Tim continues his fine form Down Under

Tim Rouse continued with his fine run of form in Adelaide this weekend.

The 22-year-old top order batsman is playing Grade Cricket for Northern Districts, and has now scored his second century in as many weeks.

He was also amongst the wickets as he helped his side to a seven wicket victory over Prospect with 28 balls to spare.

After winning the toss at the Salisbury Oval the visitors chose to bat first and were dismissed for 225 in the 48th over. Rouse claimed three for 24 from his 10 overs of off spin, which included the only two maidens of the innings.

Tim then changed the ball for the bat and opened the innings and added 74 for the third wicket with team captain Mark Cosgrove.

The Somerset player then shared an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 109 with Mitch Thomas to steer his side to victory and ended up carrying his bat for 108 which came off 130 deliveries and contained 11 fours.

Last weekend Tim made 124 on his debut appearance.

Reflecting on his time out in Australia so far, Tim said: “It’s been a great experience so far and I’ve been very pleased to put two contributions together to help us win the first two games.

“The weather has been a bit up and down, but I’m told that it’ll get hot soon. It’s a good standard of cricket here, so it’s an exciting challenge for me. Apart from playing cricket I’m training hard, playing some golf, meeting new people and exploring as much of Adelaide and Australia as I can.”

Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr is delighted by Tim’s current form.

“It’s brilliant for Tim’s confidence,” Jason said. “When you go abroad, it’s important to make a good first impression and you can do that in many ways. Tim will certainly have done that from a character perspective and to score two hundreds in in his first two matches is fantastic for him and for the Club.

“We’re keeping a very close eye on him and hopefully he can continue his good run of form throughout the winter and bring that back with him in order to start the season well with us next year.”
