Tom chosen to represent Kolkata Knight Riders
Somerset wicketkeeper/batsman Tom Banton has been chosen to represent the Kolkata Knight Riders in next years IPL.
He was bought by the Knight Riders for his base price of INR 1 Crore.
This caps what has been a remarkable year for the 21-year-old.
After excelling for Somerset throughout the summer, Tom made his England debut in the IT20 series against New Zealand last month.
The PCA Young Player of the Year was also named by the England National Cricket Selectors in the 16-strong squad for the three-match ODI series in South Africa which begins in February.
Tom is currently in Australia representing Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.
Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping that Tom can help them to their first title since 2014.
The Knight Riders also made headlines by making Pat Cummins the most expensive overseas buy in IPL history when they paid INR 15.5 Crore (approx $2.2 million).
Tom will also line up alongside England white-ball Captain, Eoin Morgan who joins KKR for a fourth season.
