Tom signs for Delhi Bulls in Abu Dhabi T10
It’s looking like being a busy winter for Somerset Club Captain, Tom Abell.
It was announced recently that the 26-year-old will represent Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League and it has now also been confirmed that he will also play for Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
It’s another competition that Tom is looking forward to being a part of.
“It’s all happened pretty quickly and I’m excited to be involved in the tournament,” he explained. “It’s a great opportunity for me to continue my development, but I’m going to miss the environment that all the boys and the staff have created over the winter at Somerset because that’s been amazing to be a part of.
“It’s a great chance to apply everything that we’ve been working on over the winter and put it into practice in a different environment.”
As Tom explained, he doesn’t have a great deal of experience of T10 cricket.
“It’s not a format that I’m too familiar with and I’m not quite sure what to expect, but you have to try and adapt. I don’t think that it will be too dissimilar to how you look to play T20 cricket and I’ll try to adapt the best that I can. I like to think that my white-ball game has come on over the last couple of years and this competition will test that to a potentially greater extent. It’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to.
Tom is certainly looking to make the most of his overseas experiences.
“Over the next couple of months, I’m going to get the chance to play with and against some really world class players and teams. It’s always good to be able to ply your trade outdoors during the winter and there’s no better practice than being able to play competitive cricket. It’s going to be a very exciting couple of months and hopefully I can grasp these opportunities with both hands.”Back to News
