Tom taking Abu Dhabi T10 by Storm

Tom Banton’s incredible 2019 continued today.

The 21-year old, who recently signed a new two-year contract extension, smashed his way to a sensational 80 from just 28 balls for the Qalanders against Karnataka Tuskans in match 20 of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament.

The wicketkeeper batsman reached his half century from just 17 balls, the fastest 50 in the T10 league, and his inning included nine fours and six sixes.

Qalanders went on to win by 32 runs, after which Tom said: “The last two games didn’t really go to plan but today I just came out, played how I always have done and it came off.”

It’s been a great year for Tom who scored over 1500 runs for Somerset across the three formats. His performances throughout 2019 also saw him claim the PCA Young Player of the Year and Cricket Writers’ Club Young Cricketer of the Year awards.

His busy year isn’t over yet either because after the Abu Dhabi T10 he will be heading to Australia to represent Brisbane Heat in the KFC Big Bash League.
