Rain frustrates Somerset on day three

Somerset’s hopes of wrapping up this LV= Insurance County Championship match against Hampshire on day three were frustrated by the weather at the Ageas Bowl.

Having dominated the opening two days, the visitors were looking to continue in the same vein today.

Hampshire were due to resume on 92 for three, still 165 runs behind, but the rain had other ideas.

Play eventually got under way just before 5:30pm but only 9.3 overs were possible before the elements, this time bad light, took control again.

Hampshire advanced to 110 for four during the small amount of play that was possible and still trail by 147 runs.

Sam Northeast was the man to go, caught impressively by George Bartlett at short-leg to give Craig Overton his fourth wicket of the innings.
