Seven wicket win in Truro
Steve Davies, James Hildreth and Josh Thomas all starred as Somerset claimed a seven wicket win over Cornwall in this National Counties fixture at Truro CC.
Somerset skipper, Ben Green won the toss and elected to field, and it was the captain who struck first when he bowled A Javid for 14 with 45 runs on the board.
The score had advanced to 77 when Jack Harding claimed his maiden wicket for Somerset when Purchase was caught by Green and went for 12.
When Thomas trapped Phillips lbw for 23 the hosts were 129 for three. Tryfonos was run out by Green for seven at 148 for four, and when Thomas accounted for both Smith and Lello Cornwall were 193 for six.
The 200 came up for the hosts in the 44th over and shortly after opener Gibson reached 100 from from 133 balls.
Bone was run out by Davies at 206 for seven, and Gibson was the final wicket to fall when he was bowled by Harding for 105.
At the end of their innings, Cornwall had reached 255 for eight. Thomas was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 46.
Somerset lost Andrew Umeed in the opening over, but but Davies and Thomas shared a second wicket stand of 149. Davies reached 50 from 37 balls, with Thomas making his half century from three more balls.
Thomas eventually fell for 69 and when Davies was trapped lbw by Smith for 79 Somerset were 176 for three in the 22nd over.
James Hildreth then eased his way to 50 from 44 balls as the visitors took charge. The Somerset veteran finished on 54 not out and received good support from George Bartlett who ended unbeaten on 31 as Somerset eased to victory from just 32.3 overs
