Right-Handed Batsman, Right-Arm Fast Bowler
Joe Gore is a 16 year old fast bowler who hails from Budleigh Salterton, where he was born and has grown up. The 6 feet 6 inches tall youngster has played through the age group sides and now plays for the senior side at Club.
On signing for the Somerset Academy in September 2015, Joe said: “This is something that I have worked really hard for so I am delighted to have been offered a place on the Somerset Academy.
“I want to try to develop my ability and make the most of it by playing against other people in new places and generally expanding my overall cricketing experiences.
Talking about some of the coaches who have helped him Joe said: “In the past I have worked with Ben Wellington who helped me a great deal and then last year I started to see Ben Phillips and he has helped me out. He put me forward into the Somerset Under 17 age group. Both have had a huge influence on enabling me to get to where I am now.
Looking ahead Joe said: “I would like to take my game as far as I can and develop my ability in all aspects of the game. Of course my goal is to become a professional cricketer, but I want to stay grounded and I have a lot of hard work to do before then.”
Joe has just joined Queen’s College in Taunton, where he is working with former Somerset cricketer Arul Suppiah, and has started his A Levels.
The Academy Director Steve Snell said: “Joe has been hugely impressive whenever he has been given an opportunity to bowl this year. Even though he is still only 16, because of his tall frame he generates steep bounce at a good pace.
He added: “Joe has been the stand out seamer for Somerset Under 17s this summer and I am extremely excited about his potential to keep improving.”
