Batting & Assistant Coach
The Australian has signed a contract that will see him take up the role until at least the end of the 2023 season.
The 43-year-old, who has previously been the Head Coach of Western Australia and Perth Scorchers, is highly regarded within the game and emerged as the standout candidate throughout the thorough recruitment process.
He will join up with the coaching team at the Cooper Associates County Ground later this week.
Regarding this appointment, SCCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “Lachlan has coached at a very high level at Western Australia, Perth Scorchers and Victoria, and he brings with him a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience.
“He has successfully undertaken a variety of roles throughout his coaching career, during which time he has been a part of three Sheffield Shield titles, a domestic one-day title and was a Big Bash winner with Melbourne Renegades in 2019.
“He is a coach of outstanding character and has a proven track record of building great relationships. In addition to this, he is a terrific mentor, a great exponent of skill acquisition and has a proven background of guiding aspirational players through to the international arena.
“We are all looking forward to working with him, and I sense everybody at the Club will profit from his technical and strategic understanding of the game.
“I know we are going to benefit hugely from his appointment.”
Ahead of his arrival, Lachlan said: “I’m really excited to be part of the Somerset coaching team and I’m looking forward to catching up and working with Jason and all the staff.
“I’m also really looking forward to working with and getting to know Tom and the whole squad as we work our way through the season and continue to build on the foundations that are already in place”
