Lewis Goldsworthy joined the Somerset Academy in the winter of 2016 and is a left arm spinner and right handed top order batsman.
Lewis hails from Cornwall and has represented his home County at every level, including the Cornwall 1st XI. He made a number of significant contributions in all the teams he played during 2017. His Somerset 2nd XI debut soon followed and was named man-of-the-tournament during a T20 day against Devon and Cornwall last summer.
Lewis toured India with the SCCC Academy in February 2017 and made significant improvements to his game with reference to batting against spin bowling.
In 2019 Lewis enjoyed another successful year. The 18-year-old, who was educated at Millfield, impressed for the Somerset Second XI, not least with an eye-catching half-century in the Trophy semi-final. Such exploits have gained him International recognition and he was one of the standout performers for England Under 19s.
Lewis made his First Class debut in 2021 against Middlesex and his List ‘A’ debut last July. He enjoyed a successful season, ramping up nearly 900 runs over all formats including an impressive 96 against Surrey in the RLODC.
Runs and wickets in the 2021 season meant that Lewis received the ‘Somerset Young Player of the Year’ award.
