SCCC Player Pathway Bowling Coach, Andrew Griffiths travelled to Cornwall recently to help deliver a fast bowling workshop.
SCCC Academy Director, Steve Snell outlines the purpose of the event.
“Andrew delivered the workshop to help the bowlers look into the basic foundations of fast bowling,” he explained. “His role was to help give them a greater understanding of some of the techniques, fundamentals and attributes that they will need in order to improve their games.
“Andrew was joined by SCCC Performance Analyst, Scott Thomas and they worked with the young bowlers throughout the evening. I’m pleased to say that the feedback we’ve had from Cornwall has been extremely positive.
“Cornwall are extremely engaged and enthusiastic in regard to development, and whenever there’s been the opportunity for us to deliver sessions, Chris Hunkin and the team are always keen to make that happen.
“We are determined to do whatever we can to help aid the development of Cornwall’s young players.”
After the workshop Andrew said: “It’s brilliant to be able to provide support and to help develop the next generation of Cornish fast bowlers.
“The passion demonstrated by their coaches was really impressive and it was great to be able to assist them in working with the talented cricketers coming through their pathway.”
Chris Hunkin, Performance Development Manager for Cornwall Cricket Board, said: “We are really grateful to Somerset and Andrew for coming down and having such valuable input into a selection of our age group players.
“The expertise and passion he shows for fast bowling is inspiring and his engaging delivery style has had a great impact on both players and coaches alike.”
