Somerset's 2020 five-wicket hauls

Somerset’s bowling attack received a huge amount of praise throughout the 2020 campaign, particularly in the Bob Willis Trophy.

Here, we take a look back at our four five-wicket hauls.

CRAIG OVERTON

2020 was another outstanding year for Craig.

The 26-year-old claimed 30 wickets in the Bob Willis Trophy at an average of just 13.43.

He also claimed five wickets in an innings on two occasions.

The first of these came in the opening match of the season at Taunton when his five for 38 helped to dismiss Glamorgan for 131 in their first innings. He went on to claim two further wickets in the visitor’s second innings as Somerset won the match by 289 runs.

Craig also claimed five wickets in Gloucestershire’s second innings at the Cooper Associates County Ground. His five for 26 helped Somerset to a comprehensive 314-run victory and he finished with match figures of nine for 51.

LEWIS GREGORY

Lewis took 27 wickets across the two formats of the game this year.

The highlight came in the final of the Bob Willis Trophy when he claimed six for 72 as Somerset came agonisingly close to to lifting First Class domestic cricket’s showpiece prize.

JAMIE OVERTON

One of the highlights of the season for Jamie in a Somerset shirt came when he claimed an impressive five for 48 in Glamorgan’s second innings as Somerset’s comprehensively swept aside the visitors at the Cooper Associates County Ground at the beginning of August. He finished the match with seven for 64.
