Kit sale a great success

During the recent Specsavers County Championship match with Middlesex the Somerset players held a sale of all their old and unused kit.

The sale, which was held to raise money for the PCA Benevolent Fund and the Tom Maynard Trust, was launched at a special event in Stragglers Coffee House on Monday evening which saw several members of the first team in attendance.  The players manned the stalls and helped to sell the kit before those present enjoyed an informal chat with Matt Maynard and Marcus Trescothick over a curry.

The kit sale then continued throughout the remainder of the match against Middlesex and helped to raise over £1000.

The sale was organised by Director of Cricket Matt Maynard who said: “”I have been absolutely amazed by how successful this has been. I can’t thank the Somerset supporters enough for their generosity. Thanks to everyone who made a donation we have been able to raise £1200. This money will be split between the PCA Benevolent fund and the Tom Maynard Trust. Once again a huge thank you has to go to our supporters for supporting this sale so spectacularly.”
